An actuator drives the air damper or gas valve in a burner, adjusting the opening angle to control combustion air flow or fuel supply. These motorised drives sit directly on the damper shaft or valve spindle and respond to control signals from the burner manager, holding position during operation and returning to a safe state on shutdown.

Choosing the correct actuator depends on the operating voltage, running time, torque rating and the mechanical connection: shaft diameter, coupling type and rotation angle. Many actuators carry a manufacturer order number printed on the housing or rating plate, and cross-references allow matching between brands when an exact replacement is needed.
