A thermocouple generates a small voltage when heated by the pilot flame, holding the gas valve open as long as the flame is present. Thermopiles work on the same principle but produce higher voltage to power control circuits. Both sit in the flame path, usually mounted near the pilot burner.

When selecting a replacement, check the thread size and length, the position of the fixing nut, and the terminal type at the control end. If you have an order number from the appliance manufacturer or from Honeywell or De Dietrich, we can match it to the correct part in our range.
