Anodes

A sacrificial anode is a passive corrosion-protection component fitted inside the storage vessel or heat exchanger of a boiler or water heater. Made from magnesium or aluminium alloy, it corrodes preferentially, drawing electrochemical attack away from the steel or copper surfaces it protects. Without a serviceable anode the vessel wall degrades rapidly, leading to leaks and premature failure of the appliance.

Selecting the correct replacement depends on the rod diameter, length, thread size and material grade specified for the appliance. ACV models may also require a particular flange configuration or immersion depth.
