A control box is the electronic sequencing unit that governs every stage of a burner's firing cycle — pre-purge, ignition, flame establishment and lockout. Mounted directly on the burner or on a panel inside the boiler cabinet, it reads the signal from the flame detector and decides whether to open the gas valve or shut the burner down safely. Without a correctly matched control box the appliance cannot start or remain in a safe operating state.

Selecting the right unit depends on burner make and series, supply voltage, the type of flame detector supported (ionisation probe or UV cell), and the timing parameters required by the application.
