A pilot burner is the small continuous or intermittent flame that ignites the main burner in a gas or oil-fired appliance. Mounted close to the main burner head, it receives a controlled gas feed through a dedicated safety circuit and is monitored by the flame supervision system — typically a thermocouple or ionisation probe — so the main gas valve opens only when ignition is confirmed.

Selecting the correct replacement means matching the original by gas type (natural gas or LPG), pilot gas flow rate, thermocouple seat thread and length, electrode gap and orientation, and the overall geometry that positions the flame relative to the main burner. Where the original manufacturer reference is known, that order number can be cross-referenced to the equivalent part. Brands represented in this section include De Dietrich, Honeywell and Kromschroder.
