Description
This Anstoss ignition transformer, catalogue number 07000020/04, is a step-up transformer. It steps up the primary voltage to produce a high secondary voltage and current sufficient to ionise the electrode gap. The transformer operates only during the ignition period, under command from the burner control.
Choosing and fitting
For a replacement ignition transformer of this type, the primary voltage, secondary voltage and current, duty cycle, and physical mounting and terminal layout must all match the burner's requirements. The cable connector pattern must be compatible with the burner wiring harness. Before fitting, confirm the primary and secondary outputs match the specification, and inspect the ignition cable and electrode connections for condition and correct gap.
Signs of failure
A common failure mode is a hardened or cracked ignition cable that leaks the spark to earth, producing symptoms that mimic a faulty transformer. Other issues may include incorrect electrode gaps or worn connections. When such symptoms appear, inspect the ignition cable insulation and electrode connections before replacing the transformer.
