Giersch Ignition and ionization electrode G23 47-90-28857

This ignition and ionization electrode serves both spark ignition and flame sensing in Giersch G23 gas burners. It is made of heat-resistant materials and mounts directly in the flame zone. Its flame detector uses ionization rectification. This electrode replaces the earlier part number 47-90-27354. It is intended for Giersch G23 burners.

For this type of electrode, confirm that the electrode length, bend, insulator diameter, and electrode gap match the burner specification. The mounting flange design must suit the burner's socket. Before ordering, compare the removed electrode with the replacement for these dimensions. During installation, check that the insulator is uncracked and the seat seals gas-tight.

Typical failures include eroded or worn tips, cracked ceramic insulation, sooting from incomplete combustion, and a drifting electrode gap. These produce no spark, a longer ignition time, or loss of the flame signal, causing the burner control to lock out or shut down. Inspect the tip, insulator, and gap during routine maintenance.
