Description
The Fida PBG007 is a silicone-insulated ignition cable designed to withstand high voltage. It connects the ignition transformer output to the ignition electrode in a burner's high-voltage circuit. This cable is intended for use with Fida transformers that employ the PBG007 connector pattern.
Choosing and fitting
Parts of this type are selected by matching the connector pattern at both ends to the transformer terminal and the electrode lead or boot. The cable length must be sufficient to route the lead cleanly away from hot surfaces and sharp edges. Catalogue listings specify whether connectors are included, as these parts are supplied as bare cables or assembled lead sets.
Signs of failure
Cables of this kind can degrade due to heat or age, becoming cracked or hardened. This can allow the spark to track to earth, which often appears as a failing transformer to a service technician. If the burner fails to ignite or locks out during the ignition cycle and the transformer tests correctly, inspect the cable for visible damage or conductivity to earth. Intermittent spark loss is a common symptom of a degraded cable.
