Description
The Sit Piezo igniter 0.073.952 is an electrode component used in gas boilers, specifically designed to ignite the pilot burner. It is part of the 630 EUROSIT series and is manufactured in Italy by Sit. The igniter generates a high-voltage spark when its push-button is pressed, providing mechanical ignition as an alternative to transformer-based systems. It is intended for use in floor-standing gas boilers.
Choosing and fitting
Parts of this type are selected by matching the spark gap, insulator diameter and length, and mounting arrangement to the original burner component. The mounting diameter for this kind of igniter is typically 18/22 mm, and it is installed between the boiler igniter and the spark electrode tip. Before ordering, verify dimensions and mounting against the original component, as specifications may vary.
Signs of failure
Common failure modes include a weak or intermittent spark, which may indicate a worn piezo crystal, a cracked insulator, or a spark gap that has drifted out of specification. Carbon deposits on the tip or insulator can also impair performance. Check that the mechanical actuation mechanism operates freely, and inspect for any visible damage to the ceramic insulator.
