Description
The Kromschroder 74921748 is a solenoid coil (actuator) designed for installation on Kromschroder VA1..W/B electromagnetic gas valves. It operates at 230 V AC, 50/60 Hz, and creates a magnetic field to open or close the valve when energized. This coil is used in gas trains for burners, boilers, and automated safety systems, enabling precise control of gas flow. It is a replacement component that can be installed without disturbing the valve body or pipework.
Choosing and fitting
Parts of this type are selected by matching the valve series and operating voltage (typically 230 V or 24 V AC/DC). Before ordering, verify the coil's mounting pattern, stroke, and electrical ratings against the existing valve. Installation involves placing the coil over the valve stem and ensuring the O-ring or gasket seals correctly. Always disconnect power before handling and ensure electrical connections are tight and correctly polarized if a rectifier is used.
Signs of failure
Coils of this kind often fail due to burnout from voltage spikes or overheating, resulting in an open circuit. Symptoms include the valve failing to open or the burner locking out. Check for visible cracks, discoloration, or a burnt insulation smell. A resistance check across the coil terminals can confirm if the coil is open-circuit.
