Description
This Baxi ignition transformer is a step-up transformer for use in burners and boilers fitted with SIT gas valves. The type designation is VZ 2/25 SAC-600 and the OEM equivalent is 8620370. Choosing and fitting
When replacing an ignition transformer of this kind, check that the primary voltage, secondary voltage and current, duty cycle, and mounting arrangement match the original. The terminal type and cable connector pattern must also fit the existing electrode leads. Parts of this class are not universal, so verify all electrical and mechanical specifications before fitting.
Signs of failure
If a burner fails to ignite, the high-tension cable should be checked first. A hardened or cracked silicone cable can leak the spark to earth and create the impression that the transformer is faulty. Replace the transformer only after confirming the cable and connections are sound.
