Description

The Delavan 01300-60W7 is an oil nozzle with a flow rate of 13 GPH, a 60° spray angle, and a W spray pattern. It is used in oil-fired burners and boilers to atomise fuel oil into a spray for combustion. The 13 GPH rating defines the volume of oil delivered per hour at the nozzle's rated pressure. The 60° angle sets the width of the spray cone, and the W pattern denotes a solid, wide spray distribution.

Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner's requirements, and by confirming the thread and body dimensions fit the nozzle adapter. Mounting forms vary by burner make and adapter, so the seat and thread must be compared with the old nozzle before ordering. The nozzle is fitted into the adapter with the correct seating torque, and the electrode gap and position are checked afterwards.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind commonly fail by clogging, wear of the orifice, or a distorted spray pattern, which leads to poor combustion, soot deposits, and unstable flame. The equipment may show delayed ignition, pulsating firing, or a smoky exhaust. Checks include the spray pattern on a test stand, the nozzle strainer, and the pump pressure.
