Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle and spray pattern to the burner manufacturer's specification for the appliance. The mounting form and thread must also match the nozzle adapter or nozzle line in the burner, so the existing nozzle and its seat should be compared before ordering. The rated flow rate is stated at a reference pressure, so the pump pressure setting must correspond to the value the burner was set up for.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind commonly fail through blockage of the internal passages or the orifice by fuel contaminants, and through wear of the orifice and swirl slots, which changes the flow rate and spray shape.
