The Steinen Oil nozzle 1.00GPH / 60H is an oil burner nozzle with a flow rate of 1 GPH, a 60 ° spray angle and an H spray pattern. It is used to atomise fuel oil into a spray that the burner ignites. The 1 GPH rating defines the volume of oil passed per hour at the nozzle's rated pressure. The 60 ° angle sets how wide the spray cone opens from the nozzle outlet. The H pattern denotes the distribution of droplets within that cone.

Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle and spray pattern to the burner's requirements, and by matching the thread and body form to the nozzle holder. Mounting forms differ between manufacturers and burner series, so the seat, thread and overall length must be compared with the old part before ordering. The nozzle is fitted into the holder with the correct seating torque and the electrode gap and position are checked afterwards.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind commonly fail by clogging, wear of the orifice, or a distorted spray pattern. The equipment may then show a weak or uneven flame, delayed ignition, sooting, or a rise in flue gas temperature. Checks include the spray pattern on a test stand, the flow rate against the rated value, and the condition of the strainer and nozzle seat.
