Description

The Steinen Oil nozzle 10.00GPH / 80SS is an oil burner nozzle with a flow rate of 10 GPH, a spray angle of 80 degrees, and an SS spray pattern. It is used to atomize fuel oil into a fine spray for combustion in oil-fired burners and boilers. The 80-degree spray angle and SS pattern determine the shape and distribution of the fuel spray inside the combustion chamber.

Choosing and fitting

Replacement oil nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner manufacturer's specification. The mounting form must also match the nozzle adapter or holder on the burner, as different holders use different thread and seat configurations. Before ordering, compare the existing nozzle's markings and physical dimensions with the replacement, and verify the pump pressure and air settings are correct for the rated flow.

Signs of failure

Oil nozzles of this kind commonly fail by clogging, wear of the orifice, or a damaged spray pattern, which can cause delayed ignition, pulsating or rough combustion, soot buildup, or a smoky flame. The equipment may also lock out on flame failure or run with reduced heat output. When these symptoms appear, check the nozzle for blockage or wear, inspect the electrode settings and flame sensor, and replace the nozzle if the spray pattern is distorted.
