The Steinen 12.00GPH / 60SS is an oil nozzle in the SS spray pattern with a 60 ° spray angle and a flow rate of 12 GPH. It is a replacement part for oil-fired burners and boilers, where it atomises the fuel oil into a spray that is mixed with air and ignited. The 60 ° angle sets the width of the spray cone, and the SS pattern defines the shape of the spray as it leaves the orifice. Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle and spray pattern to the burner's requirements, and by matching the thread and body dimensions to the nozzle holder. Mounting forms differ between nozzle families, so the seat, thread size and overall length must be compared with the old part before ordering. The nozzle is fitted into the holder with the correct seating and tightened to the torque specified for the burner, and the electrode and air settings around it are checked afterwards.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind commonly fail by clogging or by wear of the orifice, which changes the spray pattern and the flow rate. The equipment may then show a weak or uneven flame, delayed ignition, soot deposits, or a rise in flue gas temperature. Checks include the nozzle strainer, the spray pattern on a test sheet, and the pump pressure at the nozzle.
