Description
The Steinen Oil nozzle 1.00GPH / 60S is an oil nozzle with a flow rate of 1 GPH, a 60 ° spray angle and an S spray pattern. It is used to atomise fuel oil into a spray for combustion in oil-fired burners and boilers. The 1 GPH rating defines the volume of oil passed per hour at the nozzle's rated pressure. The 60 ° angle sets the width of the resulting spray cone, and the S pattern denotes the solid spray form produced.

Choosing and fitting
Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle and spray pattern to the burner's requirements, and by matching the thread and body dimensions to the nozzle holder. Mounting forms differ between nozzle families, so the seat, thread size and overall length must be compared with the old part before ordering. The nozzle is fitted into the holder with the correct seating and tightened to the torque specified for the burner, and the electrode and blast tube positions are checked afterwards.
Signs of failure
Nozzles of this kind commonly fail through clogging of the internal passages or the orifice, wear of the orifice that increases flow, or a distorted spray pattern from deposits or damage. On the equipment this appears as rough or unstable combustion, smoke, soot build-up, a flame that is long, short or lopsided, or failure to ignite. Checks include the nozzle strainer, the spray pattern on a test card, the pump pressure and the electrode settings.
