Description

The Steinen Oil nozzle 22.00GPH / 45SS is an oil burner nozzle with a flow rate of 22 GPH, a 45 ° spray angle and an SS spray pattern. It atomises fuel oil into a spray that the burner mixes with combustion air and ignites. The 45 ° angle sets how wide the spray cone opens from the nozzle orifice. The SS pattern denotes a solid spray cone. It is fitted in the burner's oil line at the point where fuel enters the combustion chamber.

Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle and spray pattern to the burner and combustion chamber, and by matching the thread and body form to the nozzle adapter. Mounting forms differ in thread size and in whether the nozzle seats directly in the adapter or through an intermediate holder, so the seat and thread must be compared with the old part before ordering. The nozzle is installed finger-tight, then tightened only to the torque stated for the adapter, with the seat and the oil filter upstream kept clean.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this type commonly fail by orifice wear or clogging, which raises or distorts the spray and changes the flame shape. The equipment may then show a smoky flame, delayed ignition, pulsation, soot deposits or a rise in flue gas temperature. Checks are made on the spray pattern, the flow rate against the marked value, and the condition of the nozzle seat and the oil filter.
