Description
This item is a Steinen oil nozzle with a rated flow rate of 0.4 GPH, a 60 ° spray angle, and an ST spray pattern. It is used in oil-fired burners and boilers to atomise fuel oil into a spray for combustion. The 0.4 GPH flow rate defines the volume of oil delivered per hour at the nozzle's rated pressure. The 60 ° spray angle determines the width of the spray cone inside the combustion chamber. The ST spray pattern describes the shape and distribution of the atomised oil spray.

Choosing and fitting
Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner or boiler manufacturer's specification. The mounting form and thread must match the nozzle adapter or nozzle holder on the burner. Before ordering, compare the existing nozzle's markings and dimensions with the replacement, and check that the spray angle suits the combustion chamber geometry. The nozzle seat and the mating face in the holder must be clean and undamaged for correct sealing.
Signs of failure
Nozzles of this kind commonly fail by clogging, wear of the orifice, or a distorted spray pattern. When this happens, the burner may produce a poor flame, smoke, soot deposits, or fail to ignite. A blocked or worn nozzle can also cause pulsating combustion or a noticeable change in fuel consumption. Check the nozzle for debris, damage to the orifice, and the spray shape, and compare the spray pattern with the specified angle and pattern.
