Description
This is a Monarch oil nozzle with a 0.65 GPH flow rate, a 45° spray angle, and an R spray pattern. It is used in oil-fired burners and boilers to atomise fuel oil into a fine spray for combustion. The 0.65 GPH rating defines the volume of oil delivered per hour at the rated pressure. The 45° angle sets the width of the spray cone, and the R pattern denotes a solid or semi-solid spray shape. The nozzle is identified by the SKU 0.65GPH / 45R.

Choosing and fitting
Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner manufacturer's specification. The mounting form must also match: nozzles are commonly secured by a threaded body or a flange, and the seat and thread size must correspond to the nozzle adapter. Before ordering, compare the existing nozzle's stamping and the burner's data plate to confirm the required GPH, angle, and pattern. The pump pressure stated for the appliance must also be observed, as flow rate is rated at a specific pressure.
Signs of failure
Nozzles of this kind can clog, wear at the orifice, or develop a distorted spray pattern over time. When this happens, the burner may produce a smoky flame, fail to ignite, pulsate, or show a rise in fuel consumption. A fitter should check for a blocked strainer, inspect the spray pattern on a test stand, and compare the nozzle's rated flow and angle against the burner specification.
