Description
This is a Monarch oil nozzle with a flow rate of 4.5 GPH, a 45 ° spray angle, and a PLP spray pattern. It is used in oil burners to atomise fuel oil into a spray for combustion. The 4.5 GPH rating defines the volume of oil delivered per hour at the rated pressure. The 45 ° angle sets the width of the spray cone, and the PLP pattern defines the shape of the spray.

Choosing and fitting
Oil nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner manufacturer's specification. The mounting form must match the burner's nozzle adapter, and the nozzle seat and thread must be compared with the old part before ordering. The rated pressure of the burner also has to match the pressure at which the nozzle flow rate is specified.
Signs of failure
Oil nozzles of this kind can clog, wear at the orifice, or develop a distorted spray pattern. When this happens, the burner may show a weak or uneven flame, delayed ignition, soot deposits, or a rise in flue gas temperature. The nozzle strainer and the spray pattern should be checked, and the nozzle replaced if the flow rate or pattern no longer matches the specification.
