Description

The Monarch Oil nozzle 2.50GPH / 60R is an oil burner nozzle with a flow rate of 2.5 GPH, a 60 ° spray angle, and an R spray pattern. It meters and atomises fuel oil into the combustion chamber of an oil-fired burner. The 60 ° angle defines the cone width of the spray, and the R pattern denotes a solid cone. The 2.5 GPH rating states the volume of oil delivered per hour at the nozzle's rated pressure.

Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner manufacturer's specification, and by matching the thread and body form to the nozzle adapter. Mounting forms differ by thread size and by the length and shape of the nozzle body, so the old nozzle is removed and compared directly before ordering. The rated pump pressure stated for the appliance must also correspond to the flow rate marked on the nozzle.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind commonly fail by clogging of the internal filter or orifice, by wear that enlarges the orifice and raises flow rate, or by a distorted spray pattern from erosion or partial blockage. On the equipment this appears as rough or delayed ignition, a smoky or pulsating flame, soot deposits, or a rise in fuel consumption. Checks include the spray pattern on a test stand, the nozzle strainer, and the pump pressure at the nozzle.
