Description
The Monarch Oil nozzle 2.25GPH / 80R is an oil burner nozzle with a flow rate of 2.25 GPH, a spray angle of 80°, and an R spray pattern. It meters and atomises fuel oil for combustion in a burner. The 80° angle defines the cone width of the spray, and the R pattern denotes a solid cone. The 2.25 GPH figure states the volume of oil delivered per hour at the nozzle's rated pressure.

Choosing and fitting
Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner's requirements, and by matching the thread and body dimensions to the nozzle adapter. Mounting forms vary by burner make, so the seat, thread size, and overall length must be compared with the old nozzle before ordering. The rated pressure of the pump must also correspond to the pressure at which the flow rate is specified.
Signs of failure
Nozzles of this kind commonly fail by clogging, wear of the orifice, or a distorted spray pattern. When this happens the burner may show a weak or uneven flame, delayed ignition, sooting, or a rise in flue gas temperature. Checks include the spray pattern on a test sheet, the flow rate against the rated figure, and the condition of the strainer and nozzle seat.
