Description

This is a Monarch oil nozzle with a flow rate of 2.5 GPH, a 45 ° spray angle, and a PLP spray pattern. It is used in oil burners to atomise fuel oil into a fine spray for combustion. The 2.5 GPH rating defines the volume of oil delivered per hour at the rated pressure. The 45 ° angle sets the width of the spray cone, and the PLP pattern defines the shape of the spray.

Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner manufacturer's specification. The mounting form must match the nozzle adapter or holder on the burner, and the thread and seat must be compared before ordering. The rated pressure of the nozzle must also match the pump setting for the flow rate to be correct.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind can clog, wear at the orifice, or develop a distorted spray pattern over time. When this happens, the burner may produce a smoky flame, fail to ignite, or run erratically. The spray pattern and flow rate should be checked, and the nozzle replaced if the pattern is uneven or the flow is outside specification.
