Description

The Monarch 19.50GPH / 45PLP is an oil nozzle for oil-fired burners. It has a flow rate of 19.5 GPH, a 45 ° spray angle, and a PLP spray pattern. The nozzle meters and atomises fuel oil into the combustion chamber. The 45 ° angle sets the shape of the spray cone relative to the nozzle axis. The PLP pattern defines the distribution of the spray.

Choosing and fitting

Oil nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner manufacturer's specification. The mounting form must match the nozzle adapter or holder on the burner, and the seat and thread must be compared with the old part before ordering. The nozzle is fitted into the holder with the correct seating and tightened to the torque given by the burner maker. The spray angle and pattern must suit the combustion chamber geometry and the air pattern of the burner.

Signs of failure

Oil nozzles of this kind can clog, wear at the orifice, or develop a distorted spray pattern. The equipment may then show poor combustion, smoke, soot deposits, a pulsating flame, or failure to ignite. A common check is to compare the spray pattern and flow rate against the specification, and to inspect the nozzle for blockage or damage.
