Description

The Monarch Oil nozzle 10.50GPH / 80PLP is an oil burner nozzle with a flow rate of 10.5 GPH, a spray angle of 80 degrees, and a PLP spray pattern. It atomises fuel oil into a spray for combustion in an oil-fired burner. The 80 degree spray angle defines the cone width of the spray leaving the nozzle. The PLP pattern designates the solid cone spray shape produced by this nozzle.

Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner manufacturer's specification. The mounting form must match the nozzle adapter or holder on the burner, and the seat and thread must be compared with the old nozzle before ordering. The spray pattern and angle must suit the combustion chamber shape and air pattern of the appliance.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind commonly fail by clogging, wear of the orifice, or a distorted spray pattern. When this happens the burner may show a smoky flame, poor ignition, pulsation, or a rise in fuel consumption. The nozzle strainer and the spray pattern should be checked, and the nozzle replaced if the spray is uneven or the flow rate has drifted.
