The spray pattern and angle must suit the combustion head and firing chamber geometry.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this type commonly fail by orifice wear, which increases flow rate, or by clogging and coking, which reduces or distorts the spray. The equipment may then show a smoky flame, poor ignition, pulsation, or a rise in flue gas temperature.
