Description

This is a Monarch oil nozzle with a rated flow rate of 6.5 GPH, a 45 ° spray angle, and a PLP spray pattern. It is an oil nozzle, intended for use in oil-fired burners and boilers to atomise fuel oil into a spray for combustion. The 6.5 GPH figure states the nominal flow capacity of the nozzle, while the 45 ° figure defines the included angle of the spray cone. The PLP pattern designation describes the shape of the spray as produced by this nozzle.

Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner manufacturer's specification for the appliance. The mounting form and thread must match the nozzle adapter or nozzle line in the burner, and the rated flow rate must correspond to the required input. Before ordering, compare the existing nozzle's markings for flow rate, angle, and pattern against the required values, and check that the seat and thread are undamaged.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind can clog, wear at the orifice, or develop a distorted spray pattern over time. When this happens, the burner may show a poor flame shape, delayed ignition, pulsation, sooting, or a rise in flue gas smoke. Check the nozzle for blockage, wear, and correct spray pattern, and verify the pump pressure and filtration before replacing it.
