Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle and spray pattern to the burner manufacturer's specification. The mounting form and thread must match the nozzle adapter or burner body, and the nozzle seat must be clean and undamaged before installation. The nozzle is tightened to the torque specified for the burner, and the electrode and blast tube positions are checked after fitting.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this type commonly fail by clogging, wear of the orifice, or a distorted spray pattern. The equipment may then show a smoky flame, delayed ignition, pulsation, or a failure to establish a stable flame. The nozzle strainer, the nozzle seat and the oil pressure are checked when these symptoms appear.
