Specifications

Description

This is a Monarch oil nozzle with a flow rate of 50 GPH, a spray angle of 80 degrees, and a PLP spray pattern. It is used in oil-fired burners and boilers to atomise fuel oil into a fine spray for combustion. The 80-degree spray angle and PLP pattern determine the shape and distribution of the oil mist inside the combustion chamber. The nozzle is identified by the SKU 50.00GPH / 80PLP.

Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner manufacturer's specification for the appliance. The mounting form must also match: the nozzle body, thread, and seat must fit the nozzle adapter or holder on the burner. Before ordering, compare the existing nozzle's markings and dimensions with the replacement, and check that the spray pattern and angle suit the combustion chamber geometry. Installation requires correct seating and tightening to the torque specified by the burner maker, without damaging the orifice.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind commonly fail by clogging, orifice wear, or leakage at the seat, which can cause poor atomisation, delayed ignition, pulsating combustion, soot deposits, or a smoky flame. The equipment may show unstable flame signals, increased fuel consumption, or lockout on flame failure. When these symptoms appear, the nozzle should be inspected for blockage or wear and replaced if necessary, along with checking the fuel filter and pump pressure.
