Description
The Danfoss 030B0065 is an oil nozzle with a flow rate of 2.5 GPH, a 45 ° spray angle and a B spray pattern. It is fitted to an oil burner to atomise the fuel supply into a spray before ignition. The 2.5 GPH rating states the volume of oil the nozzle passes per hour at its rated pressure. The 45 ° angle sets how wide the spray cone opens from the nozzle outlet. The B pattern denotes the shape of the spray distribution within that cone.

Choosing and fitting
Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle and spray pattern to the burner and combustion chamber, and by matching the thread and body form to the nozzle holder. Mounting forms differ between nozzle families, so the seat, thread and overall length must be compared with the old part before ordering. The rated flow rate only holds at the pressure the burner is set to, so the pump pressure setting must correspond to the nozzle rating. The spray angle and pattern must suit the chamber geometry and the air pattern of the burner.
Signs of failure
Nozzles of this kind commonly fail by clogging or by wear of the orifice, which changes the flow rate and the spray shape. On the equipment this shows as poor ignition, a pulsating or unstable flame, sooting, or a rise in flue gas readings. A distorted or dribbling spray, or oil at the nozzle face, points to a worn or blocked nozzle. Checking the spray pattern, the pump pressure and the strainer ahead of the nozzle is the usual first step.
