Description

This is a Danfoss oil nozzle with a flow rate of 3 GPH, a 30° spray angle, and an S spray pattern. It is used in oil burners to atomise fuel oil into a fine spray for combustion. The 3 GPH rating defines the volume of oil delivered per hour at the rated pressure. The 30° spray angle determines the width of the resulting flame, and the S pattern denotes a solid spray cone. It is identified by SKU 030F3140.

Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner manufacturer's specification. The mounting thread and nozzle body length must also match the nozzle holder on the burner. Before ordering, compare the existing nozzle's markings and physical dimensions with the replacement. Installation requires correct seating in the holder and avoidance of overtightening, which can distort the spray.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind can clog, wear at the orifice, or develop a distorted spray pattern over time. When this happens, the burner may produce a smoky flame, delayed ignition, pulsation, or reduced heat output. A visual check of the spray pattern and a comparison of the nozzle markings against the burner specification are the usual first steps.
