Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle and spray pattern to the burner's requirements, and by matching the thread and body dimensions to the nozzle holder. Mounting forms differ in thread size and body length, so the old nozzle must be compared with the replacement before ordering. The rated pressure of the burner must also correspond to the pressure at which the flow rate is specified. The nozzle seat and the holder must be clean and undamaged so that the new part seals correctly.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind commonly fail through clogging of the internal filter or the orifice, wear of the orifice, or a distorted spray pattern. The equipment may then show a weak or uneven flame, delayed ignition, soot deposits, or a rise in flue gas temperature.
