Description

This is a Danfoss oil nozzle with a flow rate of 28 GPH, a spray angle of 80°, and a B spray pattern. It is used in oil burners to atomise fuel into a fine spray for combustion. The 80° angle defines the shape of the spray cone, while the B pattern describes the distribution of fuel within that cone. The 28 GPH rating indicates the volume of oil the nozzle passes per hour at the rated pressure. It is identified by the SKU 030B0253.

Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner's requirements, and by confirming the thread and mounting form suit the nozzle holder. The flow rate must correspond to the burner's firing rate at the rated pump pressure, and the spray angle must suit the combustion chamber geometry. The spray pattern letter must match the air flow characteristics of the burner. Before ordering, compare the existing nozzle's markings and check the seat and thread for damage.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind commonly fail by clogging, wear of the orifice, or a distorted spray pattern. When this happens, the burner may show a smoky flame, unstable ignition, pulsation, or a rise in flue gas temperature. A blocked or worn nozzle can also cause incomplete combustion and soot deposits on the combustion head. Check the spray pattern on a test stand and inspect the nozzle for debris or damage before replacing it.
