Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern to the burner manufacturer's specification. The mounting form must also match: the nozzle seat, thread, and overall length have to correspond to the nozzle holder in the burner. Before ordering, compare the markings on the existing nozzle and the burner documentation with the replacement's flow rate, angle, and pattern.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind commonly fail by clogging, wear of the orifice, or a distorted spray pattern. When this happens, the burner may show a weak or uneven flame, delayed ignition, soot deposits, or a rise in flue gas temperature. Check the nozzle for blockage, damage, and spray shape, and compare the burner's combustion readings against the commissioning data.
