Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle and spray pattern to the burner and combustion chamber requirements. The mounting thread and the length of the nozzle body must match the nozzle holder on the burner. Before ordering, compare the markings on the old nozzle with the required values, and check that the sealing face and the holder are clean and undamaged.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind can clog, wear at the orifice, or develop a distorted spray pattern over time. When this happens, the burner may show a poor flame shape, delayed ignition, pulsation, soot deposits or a rise in flue gas readings. Check the nozzle for blockage or wear, and compare the spray pattern and flow rate against the specification before replacing it.
