Description

The Danfoss 030H6922 is an oil nozzle with a flow rate of 1.1 GPH, a 60° spray angle and an H spray pattern. It is fitted in oil-fired burners and boilers to atomise the fuel oil into a spray that mixes with combustion air. The 1.1 GPH rating defines the volume of oil passed per hour at the nozzle's rated pressure. The 60° angle sets the width of the cone the spray forms inside the combustion chamber. The H pattern denotes the hollow-cone form of the spray.

Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle and spray pattern to the burner's rated output and combustion chamber, and by matching the thread and body form to the nozzle holder. Mounting forms differ between nozzle families, so the seat, thread and overall length must be compared with the old part before ordering. The nozzle is screwed into the holder and seated on its face, and the electrode gap and position relative to the nozzle are set to the burner maker's figures after fitting.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind fail by clogging, by wear of the orifice that raises the flow rate, or by a distorted spray pattern from deposits or damage to the tip. The equipment then shows a poor flame shape, smoke, soot, a pulsating or unstable flame, or failure to ignite. The nozzle is checked by inspecting the spray pattern and the orifice, and by comparing the delivered flow rate against the rated figure.
