Choosing and fitting

The mounting form must also match: most oil nozzles use a standard threaded body, but the thread size and sealing face can vary between burner models. Before ordering, compare the existing nozzle's markings and measure the thread and overall length against the replacement. The pump pressure and the burner's combustion settings must correspond to the nozzle's rated flow.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind commonly fail through clogging of the internal filter or orifice, wear of the metering passages, or damage to the sealing face. When this happens, the burner may produce a weak, pulsating, or uneven flame, fail to ignite, or emit smoke and soot. A blocked or worn nozzle can also cause delayed ignition or a noticeable drop in heat output.
