Description

This is an oil nozzle with a flow rate of 25 GPH, a 60° spray angle and a B spray pattern. It is used in oil-fired burners to atomise the fuel into a fine spray before ignition. The 60° angle defines the width of the cone the oil is sprayed in, and the B pattern defines the shape of the spray. The nozzle is identified by the SKU 030B0151.

Choosing and fitting

Nozzles of this type are selected by matching the flow rate, spray angle and spray pattern to the burner's requirements, and by matching the thread and mounting form to the nozzle holder. Before ordering, compare the markings on the old nozzle with the required values and check the seat and thread for damage. The nozzle is fitted into the holder and tightened to the torque specified for the burner, with the spray directed into the combustion head.

Signs of failure

Nozzles of this kind commonly fail by clogging or by wear of the orifice, which changes the flow rate and the spray shape. The equipment may then show a poor flame, delayed ignition, sooting, or a failure to fire at all. Check the nozzle for blockage or damage and compare the spray pattern with the specified one before replacing it.
